My mother-in-law's family goes way back in Baton Rouge, and I've come to think of visitting down there as "hanging out with the oppressor class". I don't know if it's in spite of or because of my conservative, middle class background, but the idea that there are parts of the country where the invariably black "help" address people as "Miss [first name" really bothers me -- not least because I've never, never seen anyone who isn't black in that kind of position down there.Darwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572976822786862149noreply@blogger.com
